Rouen to St Albans

  • by

Today the weather ruined my original plans to go to the Venice of the North … Bruges just across the Belgium border. I really wanted to enjoy some Mussel and Fries.

So we settled for a quick look at the city centre of Rouen and especially the cathedral. Then we road through the countryside to reach the northern France beaches which enjoy a pretty strange reputation. Let’s say that this is not the best place to get a suntan during the summer months.

Then it was time to reach St-Albans in North London and tackle riding a bike on the left side of the road for the first time. All went well. And it only took an hour before I was reminded of why I left the UK over 7 years ago now. Well one of the reason. Traffic, on the M25 was brutal. Never should anyone complain about the port-mann crossing over the Fraser river in Vancouver.
