Alex Northern Light tour.

  • by

I came back yesterday from what is now becoming the early season week long group ride.
This year the tour was named (hijacked) by Alex. The Alex Northern lights tour should
really have been named after me as I was basically guiding everybody up there after last year
trip to Hyder.

Day one and Theo is already tired, here in Telegraph cove.

The ferry ride was uneventful except for a couple of crazy dolphins racing the ferry for
a while. Here passing the nicest lighthouse along the inside passage.

We had a beautiful sunset that night a few hours before arriving in Prince Rupert, as long as the fog was giving us a break.

Day 3 : Once again the Skeena river ride from Prince rupert to Terrace has to be one of the best kept secret of this province.

we stopped a bit in Kitwanga. Those natives villages could be so cool if the junk was kept away.

One of the many totem poles at the museum of Kitwancool. A bit off the beaten tracks but really nice location at this time of the year.

We had to get hyderized that night. Here Alex remnants burning away.

Day 4 : The amazing morning. I woke up earlier than anybody else to try again to reach the top viewpoint of Salmon Glacier. And boy was that great. Here is the view roughly at the spot I got stopped by the snow last year.

And here is a panoramic view from the top. Perfect weather and perfect sunlight.

This is a zoom of the ice flow not covered by the snow.

The mandatory BMW ad shot.

And the poser shot for mum 😉

That same morning at breakfast in Stewart, we realized that we were not the ony tourists in town.

Mandatory group picture at Bear glacier.

Moments later, Theo captured this fellow crossing the road.

Day 5 saw the weather turning for the worst on the way to Jasper. Here a little shower outside of Mac Bride.

Due to airplane schedule, the American members of the group separated after breakfast on Prince George.

On Day 6 we had to abandon our plan to run the ice-field parkway due to rock-slides and a very very poor weather. So we backtrack down the Thompson river and went across to 100 miles house. Those two were on the side of the road near green lake.

This little guy was really busy ion the back of the red coach hotel in 100 miles house.

Day 7 was a pretty good day with lots of twisties on the way home. Here Theo caught me around a bend just south of lillooet.

The canyon ride approaching Lillooet is second to none. yesterday was another perfect day along Hwy 99.
