Last night saw the end of a week long ride to Northern California with Theo. During my Laguna Seca ride, I missed many twisties in Northern California due to my rear tire replacement headache. Since Theo had missed the Brad tour this year, we were both eager to hit the road before the winter showed its ugly side.
We rode as many tiny roads as we could. Strangely we did not saw a single forest rat until Northern California despite riding through massive forests with very little traffic. The explanation came at a gas station managed by some hunters at Diamond lake. Yes it is hunting season, and the rats are in hiding or within city limits.
The scenery highlight was definitively Crater lake who offered itself under a perfect cloudless sky. No tourists and cool temperatures made for an amazing experience. The best roads had to be in Northern California at Somes Bar, where I could not stop laughing in my helmet. Somebody at the department of highways in California must be a biker, for sure.
Too bad that the last 2 hours of the ride had to be done in a monsoon from hell. Welcome home eh !
