Durango – Ogden 869Km
So it is time to go home. I am just going to first get myself a French breakfast with a real hot chocolate in a real French bakery I spotted last night in Durango. After a chit chat with the owner, I ride 50 meters until I see a steam locomotive almost ready to go over the road. So photo photo, and chit chat with some locals who are curious to find out where my license plate comes from. One of them is all excited and tell me that I should go back 10 miles toward Silverton because this morning there is going to be 2 steam engines pulling the train up the mountain. So I decide to lose an hour and go for it.
Finally it is time to head back home. I am just going to stop at my last National park. Mesa Verde is on the way, and I cannot let the opportunity slip by. Boy what a cool road going to the only free viewpoint of the park. What a road. It even had a pretty decent tunnel. I had one of my best riding this morning.
Then off I go. After dodging a couple of cops and going trough Moab again, the last few hours are pretty event free apart for me letting run my gas too low and stressing about it. I made it to Salt lake city as the sun was going down. Since I don’t want to get caught in some rush hours traffic tomorrow morning, I am just passing through and finally stop in ogden which seems to be a dormitory community near salt lake. Long day in the saddle, maybe tomorrow will be even longer.
