Las Vegas (NV) – South Rim Grand Canyon (AZ) – 480Km
I took an easy start this morning, and did not realize that I would spend most of the day on the freeway. That’s ok from time to time though.
Anyway I went over to Boulder City and into Arizona by crossing the colorado river over the hoover dam. Ok nice dam, but I really don;t see what the fuss is all about. Anyway the security everywhere made me uncomfortable, and that fact that you had to pay for parking automatically annoyed me. So I actually enjoyed the ride through the desert, and managed to avoid a speeding ticket. turns out that the highway patrol guy had already preyed on somebody else in front of me.
Arriving at the grand canyon, was a bit chaotic, because the campground was apparently getting full.
Nothing I mean nothing can prepare you to your first meeting with the Grand Canyon. You can only see it about 10 meters from the edge. the conservation of the trees is pretty good. There is no alternative, absolutely none. One must physically be there to appreciate it.
What is the fuss all about ? Hoover Dam.
