Mount Bessou

  • by

This is the highest point in ‘Correze’. It is not quite at the 1,000m altitude mark. So to reach it a douglas fir and metal tower was built in 2005. 188 steps, and 26 meters later, you can reach the key altitude of 1,o00m and a viewing platform. Looking over the Auvergne to the South, it is an interesting experience since the tower is rather free of movement under visitors weight and wind gusts. A really cool spot to go for a ride and a quick lunch with the bike. I’ll have to go beck there with a video camera and record the ‘road of the beech’, absolutely cool and spectacular, is right on the base of Mount Bessou.
