Yesterday was a write-off due to some really bad weather. So I had no choice but to head North and cancel my initial plan of riding many pass in the Alps.
So this morning I started in Strasbourg and almost immediately had to turn around as I could not even see the Alsace mounts. Not too bad as I was able to enjoy Strasbourg old town.
I finally hit some good weather and avoided a bunch of showers for most of the rest of the day. I did managed to get wet on a very twisty and fun road. The weather turned winter like for an hour or so.
I just want to make a comment on the last picture. Alsace was heavily fought over during WWII for historical reasons. Please note the amounts of Muslims tombs in the cemetery. I rode to the summit of a mountain called the Hohneck which was the theatre of a pretty bloody battle in the middle of winter. There a group of Tunisian fought to the death to keep the strategic post over 7 days. I have found over the last few years that North Americans have the concept that they alone fought in the war.
Fantastic shots Bruno!
Crappy weather makes the best photos.
