The ladders of death.

  • by

After a quick look at the famous ‘Lion of Belfort’ ( a 22m long lion sculpture) I headed down the back roads of eastern France where I had never been before. Just by luck I tumble on a road sign for the ladder of death. The roads was just a bit wider than my handlebars. The reward was awesome. Located on the swiss border along some cliff bordering the river ‘Doubs’ the ladders were set-up by smugglers at the beginning of the 18th century. Strangely enough the ladder were replaced by metals ones only in the year 2006.
