Ride over to Poitiers.

  • by

Today the weather is clearing a bit. Last night a bunch of thunderstorms have created a bit of commotion in the region. So I went to have a look at the town of Poitiers which has never been a big attraction for me. But I wanted to make my own mind. And it was a bit disappointing. even the cathedral seemed a bit overrated to me. At least I had a fantastic ride up by following ‘La Vienne’ river and finally getting up close to Civaux Nuclear power plant. That plant has been one of the last build before the socialists took control of France and decided to stop the construction of new plants. Now almost 30 years later, the oldest plants are nearing the end of their life cycle and we have nothing to replace them with. So we are going to be forced to keep on using these failing units, and the potential for accident is going to increase. But that is another debate that our Green activist friends refuse to hear. Anyway, the plant hot water is used by a fantastic aquatic center. while next door a weird flying saucer like building is housing a zoo specialized in reptiles of all kinds.
